A FISH H CALLED CHANGE LAURENCE KUBSKI

The problem with trying to live a sustainable lifestyle is that so many things that are environmentally questionable just happen to taste good, are fun to eat or look nice. The latter applies to ornamental fish: millions of private aquariums and thousands of Aqua Worlds around the planet constantly need fresh supplies of exotic aquatic creatures, 98 per cent of which are removed from their native waters. A large number of these beautiful fish die while being transported to the consumer. Laurence Kubski highlights this classic contradiction between reason and desire in her photo series “Big Fish”. In her magnificent images, the Swiss photographer, who often examines the relationship between humans and animals in her work, captures both the fascination and the consequences of our love for colourful fish.
